I always tell clients I fucking hate chocolate. Sometimes that’s part of the intimidation as well, when they give me chocolate and I always say in a really whiny voice, “I haaate ittt”. I hate chocolate! As part of my philosophy as well I’m just like, ‘chocolate is so cheap and mass produced and you’re giving me chocolate?’ Like please, try again.
There are certain clients that if they buy me gifts I’m like ‘Fuck, nah, I’m not.’ Gifts empower the giver, right? Derrida said that. There are certain gifts people give me that I know means that they expect something more from me because of their gift. I refuse to give it.
Ich sag meinen Kunden immer, dass ich Schokolade verdammt noch mal hasse. Manchmal ist das auch schon Teil der Einschüchterung, dass wenn sie mir Schokolade geben, ich mit jammernder Stimme sage: „Ich haaasssee es“. Ich hasse Schokolade! Als Teil meiner Philosophie denke ich mir auch einfach: „Schokolade ist so billig und ein Massenprodukt, und du gibst mir das? Also bitte, versuch’s nochmal.“
Es gibt bestimmte Kunden, bei denen bin ich so „Shit, ne, ich nicht!”, wenn sie mir Geschenke kaufen. Geschenkte ermächtigen den Schenkenden, richtig? Das hat Derrida gesagt. Es gibt Geschenke, die Leute mir geben, bei denen weiß ich, dass sie etwas im Gegenzug erwarten. Und ich verweigere mich, ihnen das zu geben.
Siempre les digo a los clientes que odio el chocolate. A vece, eso también es parte de la intimidación. Cuando me dan chocolate y digo con voz muy quejumbrosa: “Lo odio”. ¡Odio el chocolate! Como parte de mi filosofía, también digo: “el chocolate es barato y producido en masa ¿y me das chocolate?”. Como diciendo, inténtalo de nuevo. Hay ciertos clientes que cuando me compran regalos, yo me pongo en plan de “Joder, no, conmigo no”. Los regalos fortalecen al donante, ¿verdad? Derrida lo dijo. Hay ciertos regalos que sé que significan que esperan algo más de mí por obsequiármelo. Me niego a darlo.
